If you were fired from a recent job, you’re probably dreading being asked about it in an interview. Is there any way to tell the truth without killing your chances of getting the job?
Fortunately, yes. There are five keys to handling this well, which I discuss over at U.S. News & World Report today. Head over there and check it out.

fired for gross negligence but qualified for unemployment…by the way, this was alleged gross negligence, as I was told I handed a customer back the wrong change and it was on tape…was never allowed to see tape…how should I answer the “reason for leaving last job” question on an application. Under new management at the time and also a newly implemented cash register system that allowed more than one cashier to ring on the same till…I would never do anything like that intentionally and didn’t have a record of this kind of thing happening before (I always got raises and good reviews) it was really hard getting fired, as I have never been fired from any job, and especially for something I’m not even sure happened…should I just leave that section blank until the face to face interview? I wont lie or bad mouth the company or boss but I’m not sure how I should answer that question on the online application : / *siiigghhh*
