something nice — and interview guide is getting results!

A reader writes:

I follow your blog religiously and I love it, although I’m a lurker and don’t comment (yet). I just wanted to send you a quick note to say that I have sent out your interview guide twice to friends of mine who have had upcoming job interviews. They both told me that they *loved* the guide and it was extremely helpful to them! One of my friends is expecting a job offer as a result of her interview.

I just wanted to pass along the great feedback. I really appreciate you providing this as a resource, and I am sending it to all of the employees that were affected by layoffs in my department this year.

This came exactly when I needed it to come. Thank you! It feels awesome to hear things like this.

And anyone who’s job-searching and hasn’t yet downloaded my interview guide (it’s free), you can get it here.

I have not gotten an offer yet but I have been told that I ask good questions (using your interview guide) and have had an especially good response to the one asking if they have any concerns about my candidacy.

Employers seem to take that to mean that I am proactive and want consistent feedback, not just compliments.

Congrats! It's always nice to hear that your work has helped someone else!

I haven't read your interview guide but I'm sure it's great. I used several books for interviewing, resume and cover letter writing, and various career and professional tips and they have been a HUGE help to me. I know without them I would have stumbled through my interviews like an idiot. I know I would have been a total train wreck! The guides and books really helped me to hone in on my skills, interests, strengths, weaknesses, etc. So I'm sure your guide has helped a lot of people come across as professionals in interviews and even helped them land a job! Thank you for creating it on behalf of them.

Thank you. I plan to pass this on to a young friend. I am a longtime admirer of your work, and look forward to hearing you at The Career Summit. I share your interest in nonprofit workplaces and careers, and hope to meet you. Please let me know if you are ever in Chicago.

Like the writer I too religiously go to your blog for advice and have a copy of the interview guide. In fact, I think it really helped me prepare for my interview a few weeks ago that I have been offered the position. Definitely passing your guide around to friends and telling them to follow your blog. Thanks so much!

I'm prepping for another hiring process, and I find this e-book helpful to me in terms of what I should expect from a potential employee. You should write another one for hiring managers.
